WORLD DAY OF PRAYER
AND ACTION FOR CHILDREN

On the 20th November, ‘The world day of prayer’ was celebrated worldwide as a pilot initiative focusing a globally celebrated event, proposed to be functioned from the year 2009. Arigatou International – GNRC is engaged in this global initiative on their journey towards ensuring a better future for children belongs to different religions, faith and beliefs around the world.

As a part of these celebrations, GNRC South Asia (GNRCSA) network organized a week long action to commemorate ‘the world day of prayer and action for children’ according to the common pledge to support and endorse this important event. The title which has been adapted by GNRCSA was “A day of prayer, worship, meditation and action for children” as it to be more culturally and regionally acceptable.

India, Nepal and Sri Lanka were involved in the Action Plan of International day for Prayer with their expertise by launching Ethics Promoting campaign (EPC) 2007 - 2008.

GNRC South Asia is a growing, multi cultural & ethnical, diverse & dynamic regional network.

We hope that children and the younger generations in South Asia can grow in a peaceful, safe and enabling environment, and that their voices are heard and considered in all forums of the society.

It is also important to note that many South Asian countries are still struggling with and trying to bring their civil wars and other conflicts to an end. Unfortunately these conflicts place a heavy drag on the development of the country by depriving the younger generation of their basic needs and education.

Currently there are six countries in the South Asian Region, including Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

Ethics Promoting Campaign
Anam says....

GNRC has been an out of the world experience for me. It has changed my mindset and has shown me the way of how I can help in bringing about a positive change in this world.

My first experience with GNRC was in 2006 when I participated in the South Asia Ethics Education Workshop held in Coimbatore, India. It made me clear about what exactly does RESPECT, EMPATHY, RESPONSIBILITY and RECONCILIATION mean. It was the best introduction I could get and changed my life to some extent on a positive side.

Then there was a long pause. And I too got busy with my studies. After almost 2 years, in 2008, I was asked to go to Colombo, Sri Lanka to attend the South Asia Ethics Education Campaign. It too helped me in doing something for the betterment of children. This Campaign gave me an insight to do something for this world.

Then arrived the big one. The Third Forum of GNRC in Hiroshima, Japan. I was privileged of being there and standing with some great personalities. It was a dream came true. This forum gave us an urge to counter three major issues- Poverty, Violence and Environment Degradation. These were the issues about which I used to think what I can do to counter them but at that time I did not get any answer but now I am pretty much clear about what I have to do.

GNRC has been a great step in my life. Working with great people and it has helped a lot in widening my network of friends all over the world. I will always be ready to stand hand in hand with this wonderful family of GNRC.
