'Learning To Live Together' is GNRC's inter-faith and inter-cultural ethics education and peace-building programme.
In Sri Lanka the programme will be continued in 2010/11 in the districts of Vavuniya, Trincomalee, Anuradhapura (Padaviya), Kandy, Ratnapura, Gampaha and Galle.
A workshop will be organized in each of these districts with representatives of 5 different children's groups selected to ensure ethnic and religious diversity |
GNRC in Sri Lanka is to directly engage children's groups through its 'Children for Peace' initiative as a continuation of the 'Learning To Live Together' Programme.
The 'Children for Peace' network will connect 35 children groups from 7 districts representing 7 provinces leveraging on the geographic, ethnic and religious diversity in the country.
These children will then be empowered to carry out inter-faith and inter-cultural activities on Peace-building, Ethics Education, Child Rights ,etc. as 'Children for Peace'. |
The 'World Day of Prayer and Action for Children', celebrated on the 20th of November each year, seeks to bring together people of religion and goodwill to safeguard the integrity, rights and dignity of children and promote their wellbeing.
It is made possible by a partnership among the world's religions, faith-based groups, secular organizations and people of goodwill committed to building a world fit for children.
The 'World Day of Prayer and Action for Children' will be celebrated in Sri Lanka on the 20th November 2010. |
